Sun Stone is one of the many stones used to evolve certain Pokemon species in Pokemon SV. But it can be difficult to find, and tracking it down will be challenging. This guide will discuss how to get and use Sun Stone in Pokemon Scarlet & Violet.

How to Get Sun Stones in Pokémon Scarlet & Violet?

These are the locations where players can find a Sun Stone in Pokémon Scarlet & Violet:

1. West Province (Area One)

The first location where trainers will find Sun Stone is by searching for a particular Poké Ball within the mountain ranges of West Province (Area One). After crossing the bridge north of the nearby Pokémon Center, Trainers must follow the dirt trail to the northeast. However, before descending the winding road down the slope, players must investigate the small grassy area to the right of the main path. Then, head between the two rocks and through the small ravine to find a scenic lookout point with the Poké Ball containing a Sun Stone.

2. Asado Desert

The other area players can find Sun Stones is the Asado Desert. The area contains random items like Soft Sand, Pokémon materials, Balls, and Potions. Any of the shiny drops on the ground can be Sun Stones. They have a low spawn rate, but the Desert spawns many items simultaneously, so it shouldn't take too long to find one eventually.

3. For defeating Sunflora in the gym test

Another way you earn a Sun Stone is as a reward after defeating Sunflora in the Artazon Gym Test. To start this quest, Trainers must travel far east of Mesagoza to the South Province (Area Three), where they will find a town with a large windmill known as Artazon. After arrival, head to the local Gym and speak with the receptionist to begin the Gym Test minigame: "Seek out the Sunflora of Artazon." As the objective suggests, Trainers are to comb the town in search of ten Sunfloras. Once you’ve found them all, return to the Sunflora lawn, and a cutscene will be triggered, during which the green color turns to black, marking the end of the Artazon Gym Test. Once the test is passed, Sun Stones will be automatically added to your inventory as a reward.

4. From the Auction House

Sun Stone is available in the auction house in Area 2 of West Province. Only after fighting the Open Sky Titan in Area One can players arrive at this location. By defeating it, players will gain access to new powers, including the ability to swim, which they can use to get to Area 2. However, remember that the items available in the Auction House are randomized and change daily. Therefore, there is no guarantee that Trainers will get a Sun Stone unless they check in for the daily deals.

How to Use the Sun Stone in Pokémon Scarlet & Violet?

Once Trainers have acquired the stones they desire, they can use them to evolve the aforementioned Grass-type pocket monsters in Pokémon Scarlet & Violet:

    • Petilil (into Lilligant)
    • Sunkern (into Sunflora)
